About the RD Calculator

This free RD calculator finds the maturity value of a recurring deposit. Enter your monthly deposit, the interest rate and the tenure, and it shows the maturity amount and interest earned, using quarterly compounding as Indian banks do.

It calculates in your browser — private and instant.

How RD maturity works

A recurring deposit invests a fixed amount every month, and each instalment earns interest for the months it remains deposited. Banks compound RD interest quarterly, so an early instalment earns more than a later one. The calculator adds up each month's grown value to give the maturity amount, rather than treating all deposits as if they were invested on day one.

A worked example

Deposit ₹5,000 a month for 12 months at 7%. You contribute ₹60,000 in total, and with quarterly compounding the maturity value comes to roughly ₹62,300 — about ₹2,300 of interest. Over longer tenures the interest grows sharply, because the earliest deposits compound for many more quarters.

Frequently asked questions

How is RD maturity calculated?

Each monthly deposit earns interest for the months it stays invested, compounded quarterly, and the calculator sums those grown values into the maturity amount.

Why does the tool compound quarterly?

Indian banks generally compound RD interest every quarter, so this reflects real payouts closely. Your bank's exact figure may vary slightly by its rounding and day-count.

Is RD interest taxable?

Yes, RD interest is taxed at your income slab, and TDS may apply above a threshold. The calculator shows the pre-tax maturity value.

RD or SIP — which should I pick?

An RD gives a fixed, guaranteed return; a SIP is market-linked with higher potential but no guarantee. Compare with the SIP Calculator to decide.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser.
