How CGPA is calculated
CGPA is not a simple average of your semester scores — it's weighted by credits, so a heavier semester counts for more. The formula is the sum of (each semester's SGPA × its credits) divided by the total credits. Enter each semester's SGPA and credit total and the calculator does the rest.

A worked example
Say you have three semesters: 8.5 SGPA over 24 credits, 9.0 over 22 credits, and 7.8 over 26 credits. Multiply each SGPA by its credits (204, 198, 202.8), add them (604.8), then divide by the total credits (72): your CGPA is 8.4. Notice the third semester, despite the lowest SGPA, carries the most weight because it had the most credits — which is exactly why a plain average of 8.5, 9.0 and 7.8 (8.43) is slightly off.
